On 23rd February, 2019 Sahodaya Schools Complex had organized Throw Ball match for women and Volley Ball match for Men. Once the match was announced BVM lady teachers geared up and under the guidance of our PET teacher Ms Kasthurithilagam sincerely practiced after school hours for a week. Men practiced under the guidance of our PET teacher Mr Abraham. Practice sessions brought in the child within each teacher and we could see each of them willing to learn and implement. Ms Kasthuri and Mr Abraham shared the rules and techniques to tackle the opponent. All the teachers eagerly waited for the d-day.
On 23rd February, 2019, teachers boarded the school bus and marched to the venue at Triruppur taking best wishes from BVM Team. Out of 108 schools, 23 schools had registered themselves. 15 schools participated in Throwball. The event started with official programme. Vice Chairman of the organizing school welcomed the gathering. Vice Person of Sahodaya, Mr Martin (Principal of Navabharath) addressed the gathering and cheered the participants. Ms Geetha, executive secretary of Sahodaya complex also encouraged the gathering. It was shared that Ms Navamani, President of Sahodaya Complex was receiving Life Time Achievement award on that day. It was a proud sharing. The Strategic planning committee leader Mr Allwin and Mrs Geetha Lakshmanan, secretary were lauded for their work in coordinating the event. Mr Deepak Thangavel, Vice Chairman declared the sports meet open.
The match commenced after the official meet. Two sets of throw ball match and volley ball began. We could hear the enthusiastic cheers of the supporting members and see the determination of the players. The ground was filled with reverberation. The child in every teacher had popped up and everybody seemed to enjoy the opportunity. Team spirit was evident in the games. Each teacher encouraged the team and brought in the best of their team. Everybody was devising strategies and motivating each other and the goal of each team was to perform their best.
The match became harder with each pass and the finals shot adrenalin of the onlookers. All of them winded up satisfied to have achieved or to have learned. It was an unwinding day, where all the barriers were broken and it was only the child like enthusiasm that prevailed everywhere. It was a great opportunity for teachers across different subject stream to work collaboratively for the game.
After the day long competitions, the programme ended with the valedictory ceremony. All the participants assembled and the first four teams were given trophies and mementoes. All the participants received a participation shield. The vice chairman shared the message of being part of the process of bringing in the team spirit and true sportsmanship in each teacher. He was delighted to be so. He wished each of us carry the same enthusiasm along with and return next year with more zeal.
It was celebration for BVM for BVM women’s team bagged 3rd prize in the throwball match. Ms Kasthuri’s performance was notable and all the participants lauded her and were awestuck with her performance. It was the leadership of Ms Kasthuri and the support given by the men’s team that made this feat achievable. Everybody were grateful to the management and the principal for providing such a memorable opportunity to them.
